The Heart and Soil of our Flower Patch

Updated: Jun 7, 2021

"You make the going out of the morning and the evening to shout for joy."

Psalm 65:8

We know that the heavens declare the glory of God everywhere, but since my husband and I first moved into our home as newlyweds, we've been filled with awe as the sun rises and sets here. Creation points us to our Creator, and Jesus calls our attention to the living things around us to remind us of his character.

"And he said to his disciples, “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat, nor about your body, what you will put on.  For life is more than food, and the body more than clothing...consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass, which is alive in the field today, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, how much more will he clothe you, O you of little faith!  And do not seek what you are to eat and what you are to drink, nor be worried.  For all the nations of the world seek after these things, and your Father knows that you need them.  Instead, seek his kingdom, and these things will be added to you."

Luke 12:22-23,27-31

What a passage for our time...when seeds of worry are being sown all around. We wanted to create a place to consider the lilies...although we don't grow lilies...yet. A place to listen to the hymns of sunrise and sunset and share that experience with others. When we see our flower patch, we see...

...a husband surprising his wife with flowers she gets to choose as a sweet surprise on date night

...grandparents, aunts, and uncles sharing their love of the land with the next generation

...families making memories, photos, and flower arrangements together

...friends celebrating birthdays, engagements, graduations, new jobs, and ordinary Thursdays

...someone strolling through the garden in solitude, praying, reflecting, worshiping

We invite you to come and consider beauty and truth with us as you harvest a lovely reminder to enjoy in your home.
